We Are One
1 Corinthians 12
Paul uses the powerful metaphor of the body to show that, just as a physical body functions with many different parts working together, so the church—the body of Christ—thrives when every believer, with their unique gifts and roles, contributes to the whole. Rather than dividing, the diversity of gifts and functions within the body of Christ should lead to unity and mutual care. Each believer is essential, and every gift, no matter how big or small, plays a crucial role in the health and effectiveness of the church.

Discussion Questions
1. Paul compares the church to a body with many parts. What do you think this analogy teaches us about the relationship between believers in the church?
2. What are some of the spiritual gifts mentioned in this passage? How do these gifts contribute to the overall health and function of the church?
3. Paul talks about how each part of the body is necessary, even those parts that might seem weaker or less significant. Are there any spiritual gifts or roles in the church that you’ve overlooked or underestimated?
4. How does the idea that “if one part suffers, every part suffers with it” challenge how we view and treat other believers in the church?
5. Paul emphasizes that God has arranged the parts of the body just as He wanted them to be. How does this help us appreciate and celebrate the diversity within the church?
6. What has been your personal experience with diversity in the body of Christ? How have you seen diversity contribute to a stronger, more unified church?
