Exodus: The Long Way

When God delivered Israel from slavery, He didn’t take them on the shortest path to the Promised Land. Instead, He led them the long way around—through the wilderness, through uncertainty, and right up to the edge of the Red Sea. Why? Because God's goal wasn’t just to get His people out of Egypt — it was to teach them to trust Him completely. In Exodus 13 and 14, we see a God who delivers with power, leads with wisdom, and sometimes takes us the hard way... so we can fully see His glory.

Exodus 13-14

Sermon Outline
1. Gods way is not always the easy way.
2. God is present in the Journey
3. Obstacles along the way are opportunities for God.
4. God gives us reason to trust him.

1. Why do you think God chose not to lead Israel on the shorter, more direct route?
Have you ever experienced a “long way around” in your life that made sense only later?
2. God’s delay was for Israel’s protection and preparation.
What might God be protecting or preparing you for when He doesn’t move as quickly as you want?
3. When faced with obstacles, Israel panicked and doubted. How do we often react when God’s path feels uncertain or risky?
4. In Exodus 14:21–31, God makes a way where there was no way.
How might God be asking you to move forward right now, even if you can’t see the path fully opened yet?
5. Where in your life might God be leading you “the long way” right now? What could He be developing in you during this season?

Challenge for the Week:
Identify one area where you need to stop rushing God’s plan and start trusting His process. Pray daily about it and share it with a brother or sister for accountability.
